It’s Been A Cold Weekend!

With water temperatures of 3.5ºC at Harthill Reservoir, Sheffield, and 5.2ºC at Activities Away, Lincoln, this weekend’s Winter Swim Clubs were full of some very determined and shivering swimmers!

We are so proud of all our Winter Swim Club swimmers – it has been such a privilege to coach you over the past few weeks and to see your determination to keep swimming throughout the year.

The amazing volunteer team at Yorkshire Outdoor Swimmers’ Harthill venue were fantastic support for the 11 swimmers that entered the water on Saturday afternoon.  With one potential Ice Miler and at least one hopeful IceK contender the team swam in the coldest Harthill water temperature recorded – since records began at least!  Hopefully, if the temperatures stay below 5ºC, the team will attempt an Ice Mile and IceK in January 2015.

At Activities Away in Lincoln the 10 winter swimmers were joined by Michael Mos who recently gained a silver medal at Poland’s International Open Water Winter Swimming Championship, which he took part in last weekend!  Massive congratulations to Michael from all of us here at swimyourswim!

Our winter swims continue over the Christmas period with a charity Boxing Day dip in Lincoln, and a New Years Eve dip in Harthill, Sheffield.  We hope to see you there – even if it’s just for the mulled wine and cake and not a cold swim!!!  You can find out the details about our festive swims on the calendar!
