One year on and we’re still shivering!

On 30th November 2013, exactly one year ago, Leon and Alistair, founding coaches at Swimyourswim, successfully achieved the ‘ultimate’ in winter swims – an Ice Mile.  Swimming just over one mile in Treeton Dyke, at a temperature of 4.1ºC, they became the 64th and 65th ice milers in the world!  This was one of the hardest swims either of them have ever attempted and neither of them are sure they will repeat it! (Although, Alistair is said to be quite tempted!)

The pictures show them having an ‘anniversary’ dip at Harthill Reservoir after coaching the Yorkshire Outdoor Swimmers Winter Swim Club.

The YOS Winter Swim Club at Harthill has some budding Ice Milers – and as soon as the temperature drops to the ‘magic’ 5ºC we’re sure there will be a few more names added to the Ice Mile members list!
