The STA Award for Open Water Safety qualification is aimed at open water swimming coaches and those who provide lifesaving cover during structured open water activity sessions. It enables the holder to initiate the Emergency Action Plan, respond to an emergency and support the casualty to prevent the situation from worsening until further assistance arrives.
The course duration – 2 days
Valid for – 2 years
Course Location – Hull or delivered at your venue if course criteria is met.

Entry Requirements
- Be 16 years old or over at the time of assessment
- Be competent and confident in open water, e.g. swim continuously for 10 minutes
- Be able to submerge / surface dive under the water confidently in open water.
