Winter Swim Season Underway at Activities Away, Lincoln

The 2014/2015 winter swim season at Activities Away in Lincoln got underway this morning with three new winter swimmers and five seasoned veterans all keen and eager to get in the water.

Thankfully the rain held back after the classroom session so it was from a warm(ish) jetty that they all set off to cover several laps of the short course , with nearly all our Wetsuiters ‘double dipping’ to develop their cold-water acclimatisation.
The water temperature at Activities Away was a balmy 12.5°C today, with an outside air temperature of 13.7°C.  Thankfully, the lack of a cold wind made the first winter dip even more enjoyable. Temperatures are set to drop next week so the season for winter “shiver” videos is fast approaching.

The Winter Swim Club swimmers are all looking forward to an ice water relay event later on in the season, and a presentation from Jonty Warneken, the worlds first (and only) disabled Ice Miler, so if you’re an open water swimmer looking for great company and a place to swim this winter season, come along and attend our induction course and get swimming with us!
