STA Open Water Safety Course

 

Do you volunteer or work at an open water venue ?

SwimYourSwim are pleased to offer the three day STA Award in Open Water Safety course which includes life saving skills on the 3rd 4th & 5th of August 2018.

 

Qualification Objective:

The STA Award in Open Water Safety (OWS) is designed to train candidates in rescue, CPR techniques and first aid competencies in order to act as safety cover in an open water environment for competent swimmers.

 

Target Learners

Anyone over the age of 16 years old who is an open water coach or involved in safety cover for open water swimming coaching.

 

Progression

This course is designed to support open water coaches and progression may be made through coaching qualifications.

Industry Standards

Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents document Safety at Inland Water Sites.

Entry Requirements

  • Be 16 years old
  • Be a competent swimmer in open water (e.g. swim competently for 10 minutes continuously)
  • Be in good health (including vision and hearing)
