We are excited to announce that Cate Read has joined the coaching team at Swim Your Swim. Cate brings with her a wealth of knowledge gained from Triathlon events and is a qualified Amateur Swimming Association swimming teacher.
Cate represented GB in her age group in middle distance in both 2013 and 2014 – in the latter she was first out of the water leading the entire race as she exited T1 (chicked all the men .. Love it ..Ed)
She did her first iron distance at Challenge Almere in September last year – again posting an amazing swim time of 55:42 (beating all bar 2 of the elite women). She finished 6th overall in her age group. She’s representing GB again at the World Age Group Champs in Sweden in June – this time in Long Distance and shortly after heading for IM Copenhagen!
Cate took a short break of 20 years from swimming, getting back into it a few years ago, she’s been coaching swimming in Bakewell for approximately 3 years. We’re delighted that she has agreed to help us offer a wider range of experience at SYS. Cate also got a silver medal at the Derbyshire half marathon championships last year which was a surprise given the fact running is her least favourite discipline!.
Cate will be joining us at Sunday’s coached lane sessions at Aston Pool & both open water venues during the season, so please drop by and say hello, she’ll be happy to answer any questions.
