Two New Ice Miles at Hatfield (str)

We saw two new ice miles being completed today at Hatfield ( subject to ratification ) in water temperature of 3.9ºc. Both miles were well earned as the wind created interesting swimming conditions over the usually calm lake.

The first mile was completed by the thoroughly nice Nick Hinde who travelled down from Whitehaven to swim with us. Nick took just 43.21 to swim the one mile course, finishing strongly and with enough energy to make sure we paused his watch (ed: if it’s not on strava it never happened).

We look forward to seeing you again at the IISA GB Championships in February Nick.

Our second ice mile of the day was from our very own Ally “Dobby” Howard. Ally completed her first ice mile with us a year to the day ago, this time around saw her knocking a massive 5 minutes off of her previous ice mile time, finishing in 39.02, which we think is superb.

I probably won’t live to enjoy the moment but this picture is just too good not to post. Well done Dobby we’re all very proud of you.

A huge thank you as always to all the volunteers and supporters – you’re amazing!
