Ironman to Ice Miler… No Problem

Today saw three new ice miles (subject to ratification) being completed at Hatfield, unbeknown to us and only coming to light in the recovery room all three swimmers had also previously completed an Iron Man making them eligible to join the even more elite group of IronIce swimmers.

Ian Wright started off this mornings fun with a very strong and competent ice mile in 39m.30s.

Following on was Trish Hughes who subject to confirmation has become the oldest person to complete an ice mile at 63. Trish finished her mile in 38m.44s.

Last in was the joyous Angela Wood, probably our happiest Ice Miler ever, Angela completed her mile in  36m. 30s and never stopped smiling.

A huge thank you to Michelle & Jess from DCLT for all your help and to Joseph for providing fantastic recovery entertainment, see you at next years Christmas party!.

As always these challenges wouldn’t be possible without a huge team of volunteers supporting, on the boats, in recovery and on shoreside, your help and support is, as always, greatly appreciated. (Kevin left early in case anyone’s counting 🙂

It takes 15 people to support one ice mile safely.
