First iTOWS of the season!

iTOWS-march2015This band of merry swimmers took to the water at Harthill Reservoir near Sheffield on Saturday as part of Swimyourswim’s first iTOWS course of the season.

The iTOWS course – or Introduction to Open Water Swimming course (to give it its’ full title) is designed to support and encourage people that are new to open water swimming or ‘wild’ swimming as it is often called.

Alistair Beattie, one of the lead coaches at SYS, pictured second from the left,  took (from L to R) Victoria King, Sharon Gibbs and Peter Anderson, through a short classroom module before leading them into the beautiful (if a little bit choppy) waters of Harthill Reservoir.  Our 3 ‘newbies’ did incredibly well – and came out of the water ‘buzzing’ and with a real sense of achievement – as they should, especially as the water temperature was a cool 5.8ºC!

The iTOWS courses are running every Saturday* – you can find out the times and venues by going to our event registration page and calendar.  Just choose the course date and venue you’d like to sign up for and follow the instructions…  If you have entered a triathlon with an open water swim section, or perhaps you have signed up for an open water swim (like one of the Great Swim events) and have never been in open water before, then this is the ideal course for you.  You can find details of the course content here.
