The Swimmer Behind the Picture – “A Quick Dip”

“A Quick Dip.”
Every picture tells a story and over Emily’s next few posts we’ll be sharing the story of some of the people she has sketched and painted! A senior paediatric audiologist by day, Angela (or Ange), gets her swimsuit out at any opportunity and heads out to meet greet, photograph, sign people in and out of water and then take a dip herself!
April 17th was her three year anniversary and conversion to open water swimming when she found herself on an ITOWS course with the club. (Introduction to open water swimming). “It was the best thing that happened to me and I can honestly say it changed my life.” “Why?” I asked. “I suffer from SAD and bouts of depression and I noticed a dramatic change in my mental health – a dramatic improvement.” Laughingly she joked “I’ve yet to meet a grumpy open water swimmer!” (I’d agree with that!)

This image is one that pretty much every open water swimmer knows well! That moment between hesitating to take the plunge and braving the cold water.
